And JUST like that!

I have a job!
Backing up a few months- Chris and I moved to Sydney in early January.
My plan was to immediately start looking for work.
Enter pregnancy (in other words... enter nausea & fatigue!) For over two months I simply could not muster up the energy to seriously job-hunt. It's a full time job, job-hunting! And as each day passed I felt more and more guilty and down about my lack of work.
My mind was saying "Let's get a MOVE on here Jackson!" but my body was saying "Um HELLO! You're growing a tiny person inside you. You just need a big ol' NAP!"
Fast forward to March. Two whole months of resting- a lot of eating crackers- and the onset of complete insanity and boredom. I finally began feeling more myself (physically) so I sent out a few emails to photographers in the Maroubra area. I let them know that I had arrived in Sydney. And that I was a photographer. And that they needed my help. Yes they did.
Did I think this first real attempt at making contact with the "working world" would... work?
Not really.
But two weeks later as I was lugging four heavy bags of groceries down the street I got a phone call.
Israel Smith, a successful family portrait photographer in Coogee wanted to meet with me! He liked some of the work I'd attached to my email, he was cool with the fact that I was currently pregnant, and he sounded REALLY nice!
Two hours later I was sitting in his studio having a lovely chat and a shortbread biscuit (which he informed me his Mother-in-law had made). The conversation made me buzz with excitement. We talked about photography and family and he was very interested to hear more about these two dogs I mentioned?! He eventually asked me to come on board with his team. If I said yes, I would become part of a small group (3) of new photographers who Israel would train in family portraiture and eventually hire to do shoots under his business's name.
What an opportunity!
Of course I said YES!
